Center for Sustainable Research Data Management, UHH

The Center for Sustainable Research Data Management (RDM Center) is a central institution of the Universität Hamburg, which is assigned to the Vice-President for Research (VP3). The RDM Center bundles infrastructures, competencies and tasks as well as in the Regional Data Center (RRZ) in order to offer sustainable services.

**Research Metadata / Research Information System**
Operation and further development of the research information system (FIS) of the UHH, in which, in addition to the relevant personal data, the metadata about research projects, the publications and the references to the research data are collected from the projects and are offered for research. The FIS provides research opportunities for research projects, third-party funding and publications.  Hamburg Open Science. FIS serves as a data source for the Open-Access-Portal of the UHH, the portal in the context of Hamburg Open Science and the Hochschulbibliographie.

**Repositories (research data management, institutional repository (IR), digitalisation, applications)**
All scientists will be offered advice and support for the sustainable use of research data. This includes the creation of data management plans, as well as advising on the development and selection of software for the development of own applications. The secure and long-term storage of data and digital data - as required by the research funding institutions - is provided by the Research Data Repository. Existing, high-quality offers for data storage (for example, climate data, DKRZ, DESY) are to be used and integrated by the experts (linking the data). In addition, the long-term preservation of research platforms, software and web applications and an offer for the simple creation of databases with the Heurist tool.

**Open Access / Open Data / Open Science**
Open Access (OA) will play a growing role in science. In addition to the existing Open-Access-Portal , legal expert advice will be necessary, especially in the transition phase from Closed to Open Access. The UHH has various contracts that enable inexpensive or even free OA publication (Offers of the Staatsbibliothek).
